Here's one thing I know for sure about getting older, your pre-conceived notions do too. They age, they disappear into the realm of the ether or if you are lucky, they somehow find traction towards maturity and grace.
This moment, these movements, these repeals, these important declarations for recognition all around us all seem to be a large vocal march towards the latter. It. Is. Tremendous.
March 8th was International Women’s Day, a “global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.” It was a day created to take a moment to recognise the momentum created by extraordinary women to initiate change.
Women like Malala Yousafzai, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks and so many more whose work created ripples, a blueprint for what is possible- hope in the face of adversity. I heard a quote recently from Oprah (the topic was on her aspirations for the children she mentors) where she expresses ''Your highest wellbeing is my only agenda.'' I paused and repeated that sentence over and over to process the simple aspiration.
''Your highest wellbeing is my only agenda.''
Whether it is for yourself, your children, your friends, family or colleagues- I do hope that sentiment is one that holds treasure with you too. So dear friends, dear ladies that share in hopes for an infinite amount of possibility, I hope you create magic in your endeavours.
Happy International Women's Day. Happy Mother's day. Happy days of creation.
''Let's root for each other and watch each other grow.'' xoxo
